What is your workforce really costing you?

Salaries only tell part of the story. Slow hiring, absenteeism and attrition quietly drain your budget every month. Plug in a few numbers to see your true workforce cost, and how much you could save, in under 30 seconds.

Step 1

Your workforce at a glance

Your typical contingent headcount across the year
Working days a seat sits empty before a replacement starts
Time it takes to get a new hire fully productive
Share of scheduled work time lost to unplanned absences
US benchmark: about 3.2% for full-time workers (BLS, 2025)
Share of your contingent workforce that leaves in a year
US benchmark: about 40% a year across all jobs (BLS JOLTS, 2025). Hourly and contingent roles often run higher.

01 — The maths

No black box. Here’s how we got your number.

We kept the model simple on purpose, so you can check every figure yourself. Each estimate uses your bill rate and a standard 2,080-hour working year.

1Labour cost

Headcount × hourly bill rate × 2,080 hours. This is the part you already see on every invoice.

2Cost of open roles

When someone leaves, their seat sits empty until a replacement starts. For each departure we count days to fill × 8 hours × bill rate. That’s a conservative figure, since missed output usually costs more than the rate you pay.

3Absenteeism

Unplanned absences are usually covered with overtime or extra temps. We take the hours lost to absence and price that cover at 1.5× the bill rate.

4Attrition and re-hiring

Every departure means sourcing, screening and paperwork. We allow 40 hours of recruiting and admin effort per replacement.

5Training time

A new hire needs time to get up to speed, and so does whoever trains them. We count your training hours twice for every replacement.

And the savings? We apply typical gains from a managed workforce program: 3% on labour, 30% on vacancy and absenteeism costs, and 35% on attrition and training. Your real results will depend on your roles, locations and current processes.
